Ever since the federal government mandated the telecommunications operators to intensify action on the full linkage of National Identification Number (NIN) with SIM cards, Nigerians have been striving towards total compliance.

Although the exercise has been largely hindered by the second wave of COVID-19, the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) maintained that the process must continue till February 9, the deadline date.

In another consolidated effort towards encouraging Nigerians to enrol for the NIN, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) launched a mobile app.

NIMC said the development was part of the federal government’s policy to improve the process of obtaining NIN and linking it to Subscribers Identification Module (SIM), and also aligning with the national digital economy policy for a digital Nigeria.

Legit.ng earlier reported steps to link the phone number with NIN across all telecoms services.

But here is how to confirm if the NIN-SIM has been successfully done.

  1. Globacom
Subscribers of Globacom are expected to visit https://www.gloworld.com/ng/nin/ to check the three ways on linking NIN with SIM.

However, the easier one is to type the 11-digit NIN number to 109. After that, the user will receive this message:

“Dear esteemed customer, your NIN has been received. Thanks.”
Then you will have to wait for more confirmation. If you do not receive any message, kindly use the alternative way or contact your telecom operator.

But check:

  1. Mtn
MTN users are to dial *785# or visit https://mtnonline.com/nim/ using phone or computer to enrol for NIN-SIM linkage.

After that, you will receive a message:

“Your NIN submission has been received. Verification pending. Thank you.”
But check this useful information.

3.Airtel Users
To link your NIN to your Airtel phone number,

FG reveals number of SIM cards you can link to one NIN

  1. Dial *121# on the Airtel line you wish to link.
  2. Type 1 for “NIN Capture” and send.
  3. Enter your 11-digit NIN and send. Wait for the message confirming your submission.

If you get an error, just wait for some time and try again.

But check.

Kidnappers: If you use MTN, Airtel, Glo, or 9mobile Recharge cards, then this Important Announcement is for you – NSW: -This is is very important and vital imformation that needs to be acted upon by all nigerians using any of our mobile networks in Nigeria.

Information reaching us about the latest strategy being used by robbers, kidnappers , criminals to implicate an unaware thirdparty, this strategy have landed over 2 persons in Kirikiri prison.

This is to inform you that there is a new technique being used by robbers and other criminals to escape arrest by diverting the police’s suspicion to an innocent third party.

I was just alerted by a friend that robbers are now collecting used recharge cards, and once they abandon hijacked cars or where they dump the dead bodies of victims, they leave the already used cards at the scene or near the victims.

When the police arrive, they use the scratch card’s serial number to track on which phone number it was loaded; and they start tracking the owner of the phone number as a suspect for that crime. Already, two people who fell victim of the trick are in Kirikiri.

To be on the safe side, once you load airtime, make sure you destroy the card before you dispose it to avoid access of these undesirable elements. Kindly circulate for the safety of your loved ones. Be cautious! PLS DO FORWARD TO YOUR LOVED ONES.

Destroy every recharge card you use please. It doesn’t take a minute to do this.

Let’s share it in our communities as well so we don’t fall victim. Destroy every used cards please…

Herdsmen: Sunday Igboho set for another mission as he storms Herdsmen base in Oyo (see Video)

Popular Yoruba activist, Chief Sunday Igboho has stormed the base of some suspected Fulani herdsmen in Idere, Oyo state.
In a video seen by Topnaija, Igboho visited the palace of Oba Idere to tell him about his upcoming mission in the land.

The activist said that he is not happy about the news of suspected Fulani herdsmen who reportedly killed four people in Idere, Ibarapa area of Oyo state.

Recall that four men were hacked to death at Idiyan village in Igangan in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State by suspected Fulani herdsmen in what seemed like a reprisal, in less than 24 hours after a suspected territorial warlord and kidnap kingpin, Iskilu Wakili, was arrested by members of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC).

The victims were allegedly hacked to death around 2am in their homes and it was also learnt that two of them are members of a local vigilante group.

Sunday Igboho told the Oba of Idere that he would visit the mining sites within Ibarapa land where the attack reportedly took place, to give the Fulanis a notice to quit.
